NSE Confers Fellowship on 116 Engineers, President Charges Awardees on Integrity

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) yesterday conferred the fellowship of the 66-year-old organisation on 166 engineering professionals, with the President of the organisation charging awardees to serve with integrity. Speaking at the event in Abuja, the NSE President and Chairman-in-Council, Margaret Oguntala, urged the conferees to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, serving as role models for the next generation of engineers. Highlighting their contributions to the profession and to the nation, Oguntala said that their fellowship was a testament to their exceptional dedication, skill, and commitment to the advancement of engineering. “This fellowship is not merely an acknowledgment of your past achievements but a charge to continue serving with excellence and integrity,” she said, describing them as leaders of the NSE. APWEN Seeks Collaboration To Mitigate Climate Change

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Lagos chapter, has called for concerted collaboration towards tackling desertification and other climate change impacts. The Chapter Chairperson, Dr Atinuke Owolabi, made the call during a zoom public lecture to commemorate 2024 World Environment Day (WED). WED focuses on land restoration, stopping desertification, and building drought resilience. Owolabi reaffirmed APWEN’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and environmental stewardship. Empowering Green: APWEN Lagos Unveils Home Gardening Initiative to Boost Food Security

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) Lagos Chapter unveiled the Lagos Home Gardening Initiative on Saturday, August 24, 2024, with the goal of promoting food security in Lagos State and across the nation. Dr. Atinuke Owolabi, Chairperson of the APWEN Lagos Chapter, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the association’s support for the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s “Own a Garden” Competition. She made these remarks during the APWEN Lagos Chapter’s 2024 Public Lecture, Award Ceremony, and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lagos. The lecture, themed “Empowering Nigerian Women Engineers and Communities to Promote Sustainable Agricultural Solutions and Food Security in Nigeria,” served as the backdrop for the unveiling. APWEN canvasses female engineers empowerment

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria has advocated for the empowerment of female engineers to fast-track growth and development. The Chairman of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter, Dr Atinuke Owolabi, made this call recently during a public lecture conducted virtually in commemoration of the 2024 International Women in Engineering Day. The theme of the lecture is “Empowering Women Engineers: Transforming Infrastructure to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals”. Cholera prevention: Women Engineers, WaterAid partner to clean Makoko waterways, environment

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) Lagos Chapter, in collaboration with WaterAid, has launched an environmental and waterways sanitation initiative in the Aiyetoro, Makoko community of Lagos to prevent cholera outbreaks. Mrs Atinuke Owolabi, Chairman, APWEN Lagos chapter, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Lagos. Owolabi stated that the group also sensitised the residents through a workshop on the measures they must adopt to prevent an outbreak of cholera in the community. Read More!
