The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) held its 50th National Engineering Conference, Exhibition and Annual General Meeting (AGM) themed “Diversification of Nigerian Economy: Engineering Perspective” at Chida Events Centre, Utako, Abuja from 20th – 24th November, 2017.
The five-day event comprised variety of activities including the Opening Ceremony, Plenary and Technical Sessions. Panel Discussions and Poster Presentations, Symposium by the College of Fellows, Nigerian Content Workshop, Group Dynamics for NSE Divisions and Branches, Students’ Programme and Young Engineers Forum were part of the activities. The Conference was enriched with other social activities that enhanced interaction amongst the participants. These included Excursions, Spouses Programme, Cultural Nite, Welfare Nite, Annual General Meeting (AGM), Annual Dinner/Dance, Engineering Games, Election of National Officers of the Society and Closing Ceremony. All activities were well attended by Engineers and their Spouses, Researchers, Academia, Industrialists, Local and Foreign Investors, Policy makers, Legislators, Development Partners, and experts from all walks of life. Four thousand, one hundred and fifty two (4,681) participants registered for the Conference. Twenty one (21) lead papers were presented and discussed at 4 plenary sessions, 70 technical papers and 10 posters on the sub-themes. Fifteen (15) foreign delegates from Ghana and Sierra Leone also participated in the conference. Sixteen accredited companies and organizations participated in the exhibition.
